INFEST 24/08/07
Before the show gets underway, we are shown a highlights package from last Sunday’s PPV event, Hellbound. We see
Chris Harris and James Storm brawl on the outside as Gail Kim picks up the pin on Jackie Moore, Carlito puts in a brave effort
but is unable to overcome the sheer power of the ‘War Machine’ Rhino; Jerry Lynn pushes AJ Styles to the limit,
but the Champion is able to pull out one of his tricks to retain the X Division Championship; and in the Main Event John Cena
has Edge beaten, only to be screwed by Scott Steiner, enabling edge to steal the win and become the first ever UCW World Heavyweight
Champion. All this is to the Hellbound theme ‘What I’ve Done’ by Linkin Park. We then roll to the opening
credits to the theme song ‘Enemy’ by Fozzy.
As the show goes live to the world amidst an explosion of pyro and light, the cameras pan around the sold out arena as
the crowd is awash with replica t-shirts and signs of all the Infest superstars.
With strains of Fozzy still echoing around the arena, the crowd immediately erupt in a chorus of boos as ‘Big Poppa
Pump’ Scott Steiner makes his way down the ramp, the boos hiding the silence created by there being no entrance music.
As he enters the ring, Steiner snatches a mic from the hands of Lillian Garcia. “Last week on both Infest and then Hellbound,
Edge made a guarantee that he would be the first ever World Heavyweight Champion. To help keep it, Edge picked up the phone
and made a booty call…..and I became that guarantee. But becoming the Champion wasn’t the only guarantee I brought.
The other was that all week long…. we would party with freaks, and they would find out why he is R Rated…..and
why they call me…the big bad….booty daddy. John Cena…it’s nothing personal….it just came down
to who was the highest bidder. But for now the partying is over, because I am here on business. You see…both Jim Cornette
and Shane McMahon made a cardinal sin when they formed their rosters…and they didn’t invite me. But Shane….today
is your lucky day…. because I am giving you a second chance. You have already seen what I am capable of, so I am giving
you two choices. The first is the easy way; in which you walk out here right now and give me a contract to sign. The second
is the hard way, and if you wanna know what that is…then why don’t you just ask John Cena!”
‘HERE COMES THE MONEY!’ With that we see GM Shane McMahon appear on the stage, accompanied by a hoard of security.
“Hold on one second there Scott. You come onto my show and you issue me threats? Well that just isn’t how it works
around here. You are lucky that John Cena isn’t here yet, but you still have to deal with me. You see, your buddy Edge
may have let you in the building…but I am damn sure going to kick you out of it. So security, if you would please make
your way to the ring and escort Mr Steiner out of my arena!” With that the security make their way down the ramp and
to the ring, climbing onto the apron. Steiner tosses the mic aside and glares at the security before saying to them “You
touch me and I will break your f**king neck!” But under orders, the security proceed to try and detain him. Scott Steiner
then unleashes with his giant arms, firing off rights that scatter the security across the mat. Steiner then picks up the
mic and climbs out of the ring, making his way up the ramp. He then comes to a stop as he reaches Shane McMahon. “I
will leave your building Shane, but know this. I am the man with the largest arms and shortest fuse in professional wrestling…and
I WILL make you have no choice but to give me a contract!” With that he shoves the mic into Shane and makes his exit.
We then join the ‘Professor’ Mike Tenay and JBL at the announce table. “Folks, welcome to the latest
edition of Infest, and what an explosive start we have just had. Just five days removed from Hellbound John, and we have started
tonight as we left off at the PPV.” “Drama Tenay, that is what this business is about. Drama and competition.
Personally, I think Mr McMahon should give Scott the contract, I would love to see Steiner here on Infest.” “You
would John, but I agree with Shane McMahon. Scott Steiner was unwelcome at Hellbound, and he is unwelcome here tonight. But
speaking off Hellbound, tonight we experience the fallout. We have got Carlito in action tonight, as well as hearing from
the man who is still X Division Champion, AJ Styles.” “Plus Tenay, if it wasn’t enough that we had one champion
to be proud of, we now have two. Following his win at Hellbound, tonight we have the inaugural address of our new World Heavyweight
Champion…..Edge!!” “Proud isn’t Exactly the word I would use John. But enough of the talk, lets get
down to the action.”
Christopher Daniels vs. Matt Bentley
With the two men in the ring, ref Nick Patrick calls for the bell to get the action underway. The match is fast paced from
the start, with both men showing their vast array of moves. Bentley starts brightly, but Daniels comes strong, taking Bentley
down with a drop kick, followed by a tilt-a-whirl back breaker. Bentley has flourishes, connecting with a body press off the
top rope, and then a running inziguri for a near fall. Daniels pushes Bentley close after driving him face first to the mat
and then locking in the Koji Clutch, but Bentley is able to reach the ropes. Eventually though Bentley goes for the Superkick,
only for Daniels to duck and connect with a kick to the midsection, and then delivering the Angels Wings to pick up the victory.
Backstage, we see Christy Hemme standing with X Division Champion, AJ Styles. “AJ, last Sunday at Hellbound you were
able to pull of the victory against Jerry Lynn to retain the X Division Championship. But how do you feel about your performance,
and who do you see being the next challenger?” “Christy, you make it sound like I struggled. Did you not see Hellbound?
I dominated the so called pioneer from start to finish. I proved to the world who the better man really is. And with Lynn
out of the way, that just leaves a host of guys who couldn’t even lace up my boots. So it doesn’t matter who my
next challenger is. Hell, tonight I have the night off, so I might even take the opportunity to do a little scouting!”
But their attention is then shifted as Jerry Lynn appears alongside them. “What the hell do you want Jerry? I have already
beaten you twice, you won’t be getting another shot.” Lynn stares a t the X Division Championship for a moment
before responding. “AJ, I know you stole two victories from me, and I know I don’t get another shot. But part
of being the pioneer of the X Division is just about winning myself, it’s about turning some of the other guys into
stars. So know this AJ. Whoever becomes the next man to challenge you, I will take them under my wing to help make them a
star, and maybe even the next X Division Champion!” With that Lynn walks off, as AJ doesn’t quite know what to
say.
We are then shown a quick reminder that tonight will be the inaugural address of World Heavyweight Champion….Edge.
We then see Jonathan Coachman standing outside the General Managers Office. “I am the Coach, and I am standing here
outside our General manager Shane McMahon’s office, where he has been engaged in a meeting with ‘Wildcat’
Chris Harris for the past couple of minutes. It is uncertain what they are talking about, but I am hoping to get a word as
soon as possible.” At that moment the door opens and Chris Harris walks out. “Chris, Chris, can I have a moment?
What were you talking to Mr McMahon about?” Harris stops and looks at him for a moment, a serious look on his face,
but then turns away and walks off.
Val Venis vs. Carlito
Following his defeat at Hellbound, Carlito was looking to quickly get back on the winning trail but Val is always stiff
competition for anyone. Carlito started of brightly, but the experience of Val comes into play as he ducks a wild swing and
connects with a shot to the back, before taking him down with a back suplex. As the match continues, we see Robert Roode and
Ms Brooks appear on the top of the ramp, with Roode making comments while Ms Brooks makes notes. In the ring the momentum
shifts as Carlito rakes the eyes of Val, before then taking him down with a drop kick. Carlito then looks strong as he works
over Venis. And despite a fight back, Val ends up victim of the Back Cracker as Carlito picks up the victory. Roode and Ms
Brooks then head to the back as Carlito grabs an apple and a mic. He then takes a bite of his apple and spits it in the face
of Val before talking. “Last Sunday at Hellbound was a fluke, a minor blip. Carlito is better then Rhino, just like
Carlito is better then John Cena. If you don’t believe me, then why don’t you ask Val Venis here. Or better yet,
why don’t you ask CM Punk. Because of me, Punk has spent the last month between his couch and a hospital bed! As for
what is next for Carlito, well after John Cena blew his chance at Hellbound, I am surely next in line. So I propose this,
Car…..” ’YEAHHHHHHHHH’ But he is cut off as music hit’s and a cheer breaks out across the arena.
Carlito’s face then drops as he turns to face the stage, where CM Punk appears. Punk then charges down the ramp and
into the ring as Carlito doesn’t know whether to stay or run. Hesitating too long, Punk is upon him and the two start
exchanging blows with Punk clearly coming out on top, knocking Carlito to the mat. Carlito then rolls out of the ring and
backs up the ramp clutching his face as Punk scales the turnbuckle and crosses his arms while the crowd cheer.
Backstage, we then see Christy Hemme standing with General Manager Shane McMahon. “Mr McMahon, you have requested
this time to make an announcement, so what is on your mind?” “First things first, earlier on tonight I had a meeting
with Chris Harris who made a suggestion that I not only understood but agreed with. So at our next PPV event, Revolution,
it will be no more running as Chris Harris and James Storm will face each other one on one! And speaking of Revolution, we
have two Champions here on Infest who both need opponents to defend their Championships against. So next week we will decide
just who those opponents will be in what I am calling Contenders Night. To decide the Number one contender for the X Division
Championship, all our X Division stars will compete in an X Gauntlet, with the last man remaining getting the shot at AJ Styles.
And to decide the first challenger for the World Heavyweight Championship, we will have ourselves ten man over the top rope
battle royal! The last man standing in that match will go on to face Edge.” “But Mr McMahon, what about John Cena?”
“Christy, I feel for John I really do, but there is nothing I can do. I can’t just give him a rematch against
Edge because there was no rematch clause for the loser. And I can’t give him a match with Scott Steiner because he doesn’t
work for UCW, and I damn sure will not be held ransom by anyone on my roster, let alone someone that isn’t. So if John
Cena wants another shot at Edge, then he will have to eliminate nine other men to get it!” With that he adjusts his
suit and walks off.
We are then shown a reminder that later on tonight will be the inaugural address of World Heavyweight Champion, the ‘Rated
R Superstar’ Edge.
Jay Lethal vs. Sharkboy
With both men ready to get things underway, they are held up by the arrival of X Division Champion AJ Styles, who makes
his way down the ramp and takes a seat at the announce table. The match is fast paced, with the crowd liking both men. It
is back and forth, with Lethal picking up a near fall after hitting the Lethal Combination. Sharkboy has some impressive flurries
and comes close to hitting the Deep Sea Drop, only for Lethal to counter it. In the end Lethal hits his Lethal Injection to
pick up the victory. As he celeberates, he then signals to AJ that next week he will be going all out to become number one
contender.
Backstage, we then see Christy Hemme standing with the ‘War Machine’ Rhino. “Rhino, last Sunday you stood
up for honour when you faced Carlito and in doing so picked up your first PPV victory. So what is next for you?” “That’s
a good question Christy. Since arriving here on Infest I like to believe I have made some form of an impact, with my victory
at Hellbound the exclamation point. But if you think you have seen it all from me, then you are very much mistaken. I am only
just getting warmed up, and finally I am starting to let loose. SO where do I go next? Well I’m sure you heard that
next week there is a ten man battle royal? I plan to be in that battle royal…and I plan to win. I feel for John Cena
not getting his rematch, but this is a hunting ground and that decision meant Shane McMahon has declared hunting season open
on Edge. So if there is an opportunity, then I plan to take it and that is just me being honest with you. So to my nine opponents
next week, and to our World heavyweight Champion Edge, heed my warning. The cage has broken open and the Rhino has gotten
loose……and sooner or later someone will feel my Gore….Gore…..GORE!!!!!!”
We are then shown a brief reminder that coming up next is the inaugural address of new World Heavyweight Champion Edge.
But first it is time for ‘Professor Ponders………AJ Styles’ as we see a shot of Mike Tenay sitting
by a fireplace. “When I think of AJ Styles, I think of all those magical moments he has provided. I think of death defying
moves he has executed with wase…..five star matches he participated in where ever he has gone……I think of
a man who stood for honour and who cared about the people. But that is not the AJ Styles we see before us today. The AJ Styles
that graces Infest is an arrogant man, one who believes highly in himself, but doesn’t have the bottle to back up his
beliefs. The AJ we all knew would give every last drop of sweat and blood to try and win; the AJ of today will take any shortcut
or low road available to get what he wants. But despite this he still oozes talent and ability….and although his methods
were questionable…..he stands before us today as our UCW X Division Champion. So whether you love him or hate him……we
can all agree on one thing…that at the end of the day AJ is and always will be….Simply Phenomenal!!” The
shot then fades away.
We then join Mike Tenay and JBL at ringside. “John, there certainly has been some drama tonight, and I can guarantee
that the dramatics haven’t quite finished yet!” “Tenay, we went into Hellbound ona roll and we have come
out the other side and just kept on going! We have seen Scott Steiner tell Mr McMahon that he will give him a contract here
on Infest, and Mr McMahon chose to do things the hardway! We have seen Jerry Lynn tell AJ Styles that he will personally take
under his wing whoever will challenge for the X Division Championship. We have seen CM Punk return to get his against Carlito.
Drama Tenay, pure and simple.” “And how about those two big announcements John. First we found out that at Revolution
it will be Chris Harris one on one with James Storm, and there will be nowhere for Storm to run!” “That was an
outrage Tenay. How can that be decided without the consultation of James Storm, who not by his doing is unable to be here
tonight.” “But that wasn’t all John, because we were told that next week there will be an X Gauntlet with
all X Division stars involved to crown the number one contender to AJ’s championship. Plus we will have a ten man over
the top rope battle royal to determine who will challenege Edge at Revolution. Shane called it Contenders Night, and I can’t
wait.” “But what does our new World Heavyweight Champion have to say about it? We are about to find out Tenay.”
“And after tonights events….what will John Cena have to say!!! But for now folks, get your sick buckets ready,
because it is time to hear from our World Heavywieght Champion!”
‘YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME!’ The arena then erupts in boo’s as the ‘Rated R Superstar’ Edge walks
out onto the stage, the World Heavyweight Championship sitting proudly over his shoulder. He then stops and holds the Championship
above his head as an explosion of pyro takes place behind him. Edge then places the Championship back over his shoulder as
he strolls down to the ring, getting Lillian Garcia to hold the ropes open for him. Then as he stands in the middle of the
ring, Edge holds the Championship aloft and ticker tape falls from the ceiling. After absorbing the moment for as long as
possible, Edge then pulls a microphone from his back pocket. “Thank you, thank you, thank you. Thank you all for such
a heart warming welcome. Right now you must all be standing by your seats beeming with pride to see me standing here as your
World Heavyweight Champion….like a father who has just watched his son win his fist little league championship. And
I don’t blame you…if I were you I would be proud. Because unlike another show, you haven’t had to endure
an inaugural champion who not only talks rubbish he can’t back up, but should have never bothered coming out of retirement.
But that hasn’t happened to you. Because standing before you is a champion not only in the prime of his career, but
who tells you straight how it is going to be, and backs up everythong he says he will do. Last Friday here on Infest and again
before my match at Hellbound I guaranteed you all that I would walk out World Heavyweight Champion……and here I
stand…..a man of my word. I gave a guarantee….and that guarantee delivered. In fact, not only should you be proud….you
should be grateful. Grateful that I spared you from having a joke for a champion. If it hadn’t been for me, standing
before you today witrh this Championship would have been Eminem’s twin. You would have had a champion that would have
made you a laughing stock….but instead you have me….the greatest Canadian that ever stepped foot in the squared
circle. So how about you give me a round of applause, not only to congratulate me on my success…but to thank me. Come
on….I’m waiting.”
‘MY TIME IS NOW!’ The arena then erupts as John Cena walks out on stage. But there is no salute to the crowd,
instead he just heads straight down the ramp and into the ring, a mic in hand. Cena then stands face to face with Edge, his
eyes burning a hole in the champion as he slowly raises the mic to his lips. “Ladies and Gentleman your World Heavyweight
Champion Edge!!!” Edge seems to breathe a little easier as Cena springs to life, much chirpier then anyone expected.
“Now I bet you were thinking I was going to come out here and complain about how I was screwed at Hellbound……and
about how I have been denied a rematch that I deserve….and about how I am not aloud to break Scott Steiner’s neck
because he isn’t on the roster. Perhaps you even thought I was going to complain that if I want the title shot I have
to go through nine other men to get it. But why would I complain? I can be the bigger man…..I can take it. At Hellbound
two gladiators stepped into the coliseum to do battle, both knew what was at stake and both gave it all they had. One man
walked out with the prize…..you. It doesn’t matter how you achieved it……at the end of the day it is
all about who is the champion. So I just wanted to say…… no hard feelings…….” Cena then turns
away from Edge for a moment. “Ah hell, who am I kidding!!” He then turns back and catches Edge with a hard right,
followed by several more that rock the Champion. Cena then whips him off into the ropes but Edge is able to grab hold of them
and drop to the mat before rolling out of the ring. Edge then reaches in and grabs his Championship before backing up the
ramp. “Damn you Cena….” “Shut your mouth Edge. You want to talk about guarantees….well how about
this for a guarantee. Next week I will walk to this very ring to face nine other men. And one by one I will eliminate each
and every one of them until I am the only man standing. And then I guarantee that we will go to Revolution and I will take
the World Heavyweight Championship from you…..because the way I see it is simple. The coward is over there……..and
the true champ…… is here!” With that Edge backs up the ramp as Cena climbs the turnbuckle and salutes the
crowd, before shouting verbals at Edge as the show goes off the air.
