INFEST (21/03/08)
Before the show gets underway we are shown highlights from last week as James Storm, Christopher Daniels and CM Punk all
advanced to the MITB, with Dutt, Shelley and Sabin all missing out. But the Machineguns would later learn that they would
have a second chance, against each other! Kazarian also found himself in the MITB, with his recent performances including
a huge win over Edge impressing Shane McMahon enough to give him the opportunity. Chris Jericho called out Robert Roode to
question his actions towards Ms Brooks, but it ended with Roode once again using MS Brooks as a means of escape. John Cena
was the surprise opponent for MVP, and looked set for the win until interference from Scott Steiner caused a DQ. Steiner then
went on the war path, leaving Cena out of it in the ring as security pulled him away. And World Heavyweight Champion Edge
invited Batista to be the guest on the Cutting Edge, but despite his best efforts it was Batista who once again ended the
night looking strong, which won’t please the Champion.
As the highlights end we cut to a shot of Jonathan Coachman backstage, suited up and looking pleased with himself. “Ladies
and Gentleman……welcome to Friday night Infest…..with your General Manager for the evening…….me.
Now Mr McMahon asked me to keep things simple tonight, but the simple fact is…..I feel you all want…and deserve
more then that. So to add to the final MITB qualifier that Mr McMahon booked, as well as the Destiny rematch that sees Kazarian
and CM Punk once again take on James Storm and MVP; I have come up with a spectacular main event. To give you a taster of
what to expect at Immortality….tonight in a non-title match we will see World Heavyweight Champion Edge take on the
‘Animal’ Batista!! So folks enjoy the show….Jonathan Coachman style.” The shot then cuts away as we
roll to the opening credits to the theme song ‘Enemy’ by Fozzy.
As the show goes live to the world amidst an explosion of pyro and light, the cameras pan around the sold out arena as
the crowd is awash with replica t-shirts and signs of all the Infest superstars.
We then join the ‘Professor’ Mike Tenay and JBL at ringside. “Folks, welcome to the latest edition of
Infest…….and scarily tonight things are being run by the man you just saw…Coach. But I have to say, a huge
bombshell he just announced to start the show.” “A bombshell indeed, but surely something like that couldn’t
have been thought up by Coach?” “It surprises me too John. As you heard just now, the final MITB spot will be
filled tonight as partners collide, with Alex Shelley and Chris Sabin going one on one for the illustrious final spot. Plus
we have a Destiny rematch, as CM Punk and Kazarian team up once more to take on Jjames Storm and MVP in a match of the already
qualified!! But if that is not enough…..Coach just dropped the bombshell that tonight we will see Edge and Batista go
head to head in a non-title match….and that is sure to be explosive!” “Personally I think it is unfair that
the champion should be out in that match….Batista’s opportunity is Immortality….and he should wait until
Immortality.” “Be that as it may….it’s going down tonight John. But on a side note, Jay lethal said
he had a surprise in store for AJ Styles tonight…..and having heard the rumours….I think you will all enjoy it!!
So without further delay…let’s get down to business.”
MITB Qualifier
Chris Sabin vs. Alex Shelley
With both men in the ring, Kevin Nash makes his way down to ringside as ref Mark Johnson calls for the bell to start the
match. The match is a close and entertaining one, with both men so familiar with each others style, they provide counter after
counter. Eventually though Shelley takes the upper hand when Sabin has hold of his leg. Shelley attempts a jumping kick to
the head but Sabin ducks it, only for Shelley to then connect with a back kick to the midsection. Shelley then uses his varying
styles to stay on top of things until he whips Sabin towards the corner, only for Sabin to run up the turnbuckle and spring
off into a lariat. Sabin then puts on a show, hanging Shelley upside down in the tree of woe and connecting with his hesitation
dropkick. But as the match continues the action is back and forth with both men capable of getting the win. But eventually
Sabin connects with a kick to the gut and then hoists Shelley onto his shoulders looking for the CradleShock, only for Shelley
to wriggle free and roll down his back, before rolling Sabin up for the three count!!! Then as Shelley celebrates, Nash enters
the ring applauding and raises Shelley’s hand in victory, before shaking Sabin’s hand too.
We are then shown footage which starts with the following text: ‘Guru Cam Presents - Trailer Park, Life Of AJ!’
The image then fizzles and we see an extreme close-up of Sonjay Dutt looking into the camera as we hear him say “Jay….it’s
working!” The camera then moves and we realise Sonjay is holding it, as we see Jay Lethal standing outside a Trailer
Park with the sign ‘Shady Acres - Home For All!’ Jay then talks. “AJ, last week you seemed to have great
pleasure at making fin of me….so this week I return the favour in the first of two surprises I have for you. So how
about we discover the magical world that you grew up in!!” The shot then cuts, and we see Jay walking down a dusty path,
coming to a stop by a trailer with a dirty old lady sitting in a deck chair in front of it. “Excuse me ma’am,
do you know which one of these lonely homes belongs to AJ Styles?” She then looks at him before replying, “Gabababababdcbfcbfbfb
gbdbdbdbddb” Jay then nods in agreement as he says, “For rows down, the third on the left? Thanks!” The
shot then cuts and we see some kids playing football with a can, and as it lands near Jay, he kicks it into the goal made
of trash cans. The shot then cuts again and we see Jay approaching another trailer, as Jay says “Sonjay, I think we
are close. I swear AJ’s sister and cousin live here!” Then as they approach and knock on the trailer door, there
is a shout from behind the mobile home. They then walk around to see a scrawny toothless man sitting in an outdoor bath..
He looks in shock at his visitors, and then leans over to one side and picks up a shot gun. The shot then cuts to one of a
wobbly nature, as we see lethal running with Dutt in pursuit. The shot then fizzles out to the following text ‘To Be
Continued….’
Backstage we then see Christy Hemme standing with Batista. “Batista, at the start of the show we heard the big news
from stand in GM Jonathan Coachman that tonight you will go one on one with World Heavyweight Champion Edge in a non-title
match, a preview of Immortality. Just what are your thoughts?” “My thoughts? Well I think that although it will
make for great TV…when Shane McMahon gets back he will be pissed. But the match is booked, and although the Championship
isn’t on the line…..I will go out and give 100% just like I do every single week. Edge has complained about mind
games, about how I have the upper hand, and that he is going to take it from me. Well all tonight will do is confirm his fears.
You see Edge says he has overcome challenge after challenge…and he is right. But he hasn’t beaten me…..and
tonight in that ring I will prove to the world what Edge fears most….that at immortality I will be walking out….the
new World Heavyweight Champion!!” With that Batista adjusts his sunglasses and makes his exit.
*SIREN* The crowd then break out in boo’s as Scott Steiner makes his way down to the ring in a pair of jeans and
‘Big Poppa Pump’ t-shirt. As he enters the ring he snatches hold of a microphone. “Since John Cena made
his surprise return at Destiny….all I have heard is how he will get his revenge….and then how he will go on to
be some great jackass that no one will give a crap about! It’s all been about John Cena….and what John Cena wants…John
Cena gets. He wanted a street fight….so Shane McMahon rolled over and gave it to him. Well last week things changed……last
week I taught John Cena a lesson he won’t soon forget. In this business I have a reputation…….everybody
knows that if you piss off the ‘Big Bad Booty Daddy’, then I’m gonna hurt you. I’m gonna beat you
down and leave you in a pool of your own blood….because I can. And when I’m done with the beating…..I go
home to my freaks and beat something entirely different! Last week John Cena realised what happens when you piss me off……..and
he got a taste of what to expect at Immortality. So John, I ho…..”
‘MY TIME IS NOW!’ But Steiner is caught of as the music hits and the arena explodes in cheers. But as everyone
including Steiner lok towards the ramp, there is no sign of Cena. Then all of a sudden there is a commotion and we see Cena
jump the guardrail and slide into the ring behind Steiner. He then spins Steiner round and clocks him with a stiff right,
followed by another and another. He then whips Steiner off into the ropes and takes him down with a jumping shoulder block.
Getting pumped up, Cena then starts pulling Steiner up, only for Steiner to connect with some shots to the gut and then a
rake of the eyes. He then tries to hook Cena for a belly to belly suplex, but Cena fights back with some clubbing blows to
the shoulders. Then as Steiner releases his grip, Cena leans down and grabs hold of Steiner’s legs, pulling them out
from under him. The two then start to roll around on the mat exchanging blows, as security pour down to the ring. They then
work over time to separate the two men, but just as they think they have it, Steiner breaks free and connects with some shots
before being pulled off. Then as things seem to calm down, Cena breaks free and jumps onto the bundle around Steiner, connecting
with some shots before being pulled off. Finally the security get things under control as the crowd chant ‘CENA, CENA!’
A promotional vignette then airs as we see Shane McMahon standing in an empty ring, inside a small, dingy, empty arena.
“My Father had a vision……a dream……a passion. He wanted to take something small….and make
it big. He wanted to take something good…….and make it great. To do the unthinkable…..to entertain the world.”
We then start to see images of Infest Superstars like Batista, Edge, Chris Jericho, AJ Styles, John Cena, Christopher Daniels,
MVP, Robert Roode and Jay Lethal appear either side of Shane as he continues. “I have a dream…….I live it
every day. To take something small………and make it big. To take something new…..and make it grow. To
nurture it………..and unleash it upon the world. To touch the hearts of millions……a world united
in entertainment. Everyday I live the dream…….everyday I watch it grow……..everyday we step a little
closer to greatness. The Road 2 Glory winds fast…..our Destiny looms tall……. This is our time….this
is greatness….this is our moment….” Suddenly there is an explosion of pyro and we see that Shane is now
standing in Madison Square Garden, the sound of thousands chanting ‘UCW’. “Reach out and Touch Greatness…..30th
March 2008...Immortality…..Live The Moment!”
CM Punk & Kazarian vs. James Storm w/Jackie Moore and MVP
With all four men in the ring, ref Rudy Charles gets things organised and calls for the bell when…..
‘FALLEN ANGEL!’ The music hits and Christopher Daniels makes his way out in a pair of smart trousers and shirt,
slowly walking past the ring and taking a seat at the announce table. In the ring, the action is hot from the start, with
the team of Punk and Kazarian looking much the brighter and stronger, with Punk rocking MVP via knee to the head, and then
Kazarian hitting a springboard lariat. Storm doesn’t fair much better as Kazarian connects with a drop toe hold, causing
Storm to fall face first onto the middle turnbuckle. Punk then tags in and leaps over the rope, landing an elbow to the back.
The momentum changes though when Kazarian hit’s the ropes, only for Jackie to grab his foot. Then as he turns round,
he is caught off guard by a clothesline from Storm on the apron. Storm and MVP then slow down the action, isolating Kazarian
as they inflict a beating. Kazarian suffers an Eye of the Storm and the Ball In Elbow drop, only to kick out of pin’s
from both. Eventually he is able to make the tag, and the fresh Punk comes in to clear the ring. As the action continues,
the match is evenly poised and could go either way, with all four men getting involved. Eventually chaos ensues, and as Kazarian
looks for the Back to the Future, MVP is able to counter out of it and hit the Playmaker. But as he goes for the cover, he
is cut off by a clubbing blow from Punk. Then as Punk pulls him up, MVP misses with a wild swing and Punk hoists him onto
his shoulders, before hitting the GTS. He then makes the cover, but just before Charles can get to three, Jackie pulls him
out of the ring. Furious, Charles then demands her to the back as Punk calls for him to return to the ring. Then as he does,
Punk turns round, straight into a Superkick from Storm. Storm then makes the cover and picks up the win for his team, to the
disappointment of the fans. As Storm then has his hand raised in victory, Daniels leaves the announce table and slides into
the ring. Storm then takes a long swig of beer and tosses the bottle. He then turns round straight into a kick to the midsection
from Daniels, who then drops him to the mat with the Angels Wings. Daniels then drops to his knees in prayer, before pointing
towards a hanging Immortality sign, and then looking to the heavens.
We then return to the footage which starts with the following text: ‘Guru Cam Presents - Trailer Park, Life Of AJ!’
The shot then fizzles to one of Jay Lethal bent over out of breath, as he comments on the lucky escape they just had. The
shot then cuts to one of Lethal walking through a row of trailers, as we can see a Cop car with someone being put into the
back in handcuffs. One of the Officers then walks over to Jay and asks for an autograph. As Jay signs his pocket book, the
X Star says “Is that AJ in the back?” The cop laughs and thanks him for the autograph. The shot then cuts to Lethal
walking up a small path to a run down looking trailer. He climbs the steps and knocks on the door, and we see it open and
a very hairy woman appears. “Mr Styles…..it’s such an honour!!” Dutt then leans forward and whispers
to Lethal, who then speaks again. “Mrs Styles…..the pleasure is all mine!! Sorry about that whole ’Mr’
thing….an easy mistake. You must be so proud of your son AJ ma’am?” She then looks at him confused. “Are
you here to rob me?” The shot then fizzles and cuts away. We then cut to Jay standing back by the sign to the entrance
of the trailer park. “So there you have it…..a little taster into the life of our X Division Champion…AJ
Styles. Now AJ, the fun and games are over….and there is just one week until Immortality. Next week, I want you to be
at Infest…….because I have my second surprise for you. And lets just say you should be careful what you wish for….Ooooooh
Yeah!!” The shot then cuts out completely.
Backstage we see Christy Hemme standing outside the General Manager’s Office. “For the past ten minutes, World
Heavyweight Champion Edge has been inside the GM’s Office with Jonathan Coachman, and I can tell you that there have
been raised voices. But just what has been said is unclear, and I am determined to get the scoop!” At that moment the
door opens and Edge comes out, an unhappy look on his face. “edge…..just what have you been discussing in there?
Does it have anything to do with your match against Batista tonight?” “What do you think? I mean come on….how
much do you get paid to stand there and look sexy…while asking dumb questions? Do I agree with this match tonight? No.
Am I going to tell you what was said in there? No. If I wanted you to know….you would have been a part of it. All you
need to know is that once again your World Heavyweight Champion is getting screwed. But if I have my way…..tonight Batista
will finally get what is coming to him!!” With that he adjusts the championship on his shoulder and makes his exit.
‘MONEY!’ The crowd breaks out in boo’s as Robert Roode and Ms Brooks make their way down to the ring,
with Roode dressed in a Gucci suit. As he unbuttons his suit jacket to reveal the Corporate Championship around his waist,
an unhappy looking Ms Brooks hands him a mic. “Chris Jericho……….I am getting sick and tired of you
running your mouth. If it isn’t enough that you make your jokes…..hurl your insults….all in a bid to hide
the fact that these days you are washed up and past it. But last week you decided to come out and stick your nose in my personal
business. Now the last time I looked….Robert Roode Incorporated wasn’t hiring failed rockers…….so
what my business has to do with you I don’t know. But if coming out here last week and complaining about my actions
towards MS Brooks isn’t enough…..you have been phoning her all week. I mean come on Chris….it’s a
company phone…you think I wouldn’t know? But let me tell you this Chris…..Ms Brooks works for me……I
pay her wages….and therefore I do what I want. And to save you making anymore calls….the answer to the question
you have been dying to ask is……$120 starting price for two hours!” A shocked Ms Brooks turns and slaps him
round the face, and Roode pauses for a moment before grabbing hold of her hair. “Oh it’s like that huh? Well why
don’t you do it again? Go on….slap me again. And then when you do….I will fire you….and that means
no more money…no more fancy lifestyle. So go on….do it!!”
‘BREAK THE WALLS DOWN!’ The crowd then get to their feet as Chris Jericho comes charging down the ramp and
slides into the ring. He then grabs hold of Roode and turns him round, before both men then stand face to face talking trash.
Roode then shoves Jericho and gives more verbals, before shoving him once more. Jericho then reacts, connecting with some
hard shots and sending Roode into the ropes, before connecting with a clothesline. He then measures Roode and hit’s
the ropes for a Springboard cross body, only for Roode to pull Ms Brooks in the way, and Jericho connects with her instead.
Then as he gets to his feet and realises what has happened, Roode takes advantage and connects with a Northern Lariat from
behind, knocking Jericho down. Roode then gets to his feet and taunts the fans, before removing his suit jacket and putting
the boot in to Jericho. Roode then uses his jacket to choke Jericho, before letting go and hitting some stiff shots to the
head. As the crowd jeers, Roode then grabs hold of the legs of Jericho, and to add insult to injury, he turns him over into
the Walls of Jericho. As a motionless Jericho lays there, Roode looks smug as he eventually lets go. He then stands tall above
the fallen Y2J, the Corporate Championship sitting proudly around his waist.
Backstage, we see Christy Hemme standing with X Division Champion AJ Styles. “AJ, last week you took part in a video
mocking Jay lethal…and now tonight you have been on the end of one yourself. But the games aside, Jay has asked for
you to be here next week, as he has one last surprise for you. Just what do you think?” “Honestly….I couldn’t
care less. In case you hadn’t noticed…I am the X Division Champion……nothing else matters. Now Jay
says that I should be careful what I wish for, following my comments about Randy Savage. Well Jay…I hope your surprise
next week is that Randy Savage is replacing you at Immortality….because that way I at least get to face a credible challenger…..and
beat a true legend of this industry. So I look forward to it…because at the end of the day….who the hell is Jay
Lethal? Where as me….well I’m just simply…Phenomenal!!” With that he makes his exit.
We then join Mike Tenay and JBL at ringside. “Folks, you have to admit that a night under the management of Coach
has certainly been dramatic, although until now it certainly has been more of a Shane McMahon show. But that is about to change….because
coming up now is our Main Event…booked by Coach himself.” “Tenay…I still don’t understand this
match…I think it’s crazy….just like you.” “Well I have to agree with that. But before we proceed,
let us look at next weeks show, as I can tell you that there will be a six man tag team match, as Kazarian, CM Punk &
Christopher Daniels team up to take on James Storm, MVP & Alex Shelley. Plus Kevin Nash will once again be on X Division
Duty, as he hosts a debate between AJ Styles & Jay Lethal….and after some strong words from Lethal….just what
is the surprise he has in store? But that is next week, and now it is our main event, an Immortality preview….so let
us get on with the show!!”
Main Event
Non-title Match
Edge vs. Batista
‘I WALK ALONE!’ the arena erupts in cheers as the ‘Animal’ Batista comes out onto the stage, motioning
to his signature pyro before making his way to the ring. Once inside he pulls on the ropes before standing in wait.
‘YOU THINK YOU KNOW ME!’ The arena then erupts in boo’s for the arrival of Edge. But as the figure comes
out onto the stage, holding the World Heavyweight Championship aloft above his head to an explosion of pyro….Mike Tenay
comments that he believes it’s not Edge. He then makes his way down to the ring and as he enters, Batista also starts
to question it. Then with the so called Edge holding the championship high, Batista grabs hold of him and pulls his beanie
hat off, revealing it to be Jonny Devine. Confused, Batista starts asking ref Charles Robinson what is going on, when Devine
attacks him with a clubbing blow. He follows up wit a few more and then whips Batista off into the ropes, only for Batista
to come back and connect with a huge clothesline. Now angry, Batista pulls Devine up and connects with some stiff chops, before
hoisting him onto his shoulder and hitting a running power slam. Then with Devine struggling, Batista pulls him up and positions
him for the Batista Bomb, only for the real Edge to charge down the ramp with a chair in his hands. He then slides into the
ring behind Batista and cracks the chair into his back, causing him to let go of Devine. Then with Batista on one knee, Edge
connects with the chair again, dropping Batista to the mat. Edge then stands looking at the fallen challenger, pulling his
hands through his hair before moving to the corner and crouching in wait. Then as Batista uses the ropes to try and pull himself
up, he turns straight into a Spear from the champion. Edge then stands over Batista when a psychotic look forms in his eyes.
He then rolls Batista over so his head is on the chair, before rolling to the outside. He then snatches a chair and folds
it up, before rolling back into the ring. He then stands beside the fallen body of Batista, before slowly raising the chair
above his head, preparing for the Conchairto. But at the last moment, Robinson is Able to grab hold of the chair and pull
it from Edge’s hands. Edge then turns and moves towards Robinson, glaring. But then he bends down and picks up the World
Heavyweight Championship, holding it aloft as the show goes off the air.
